Modernization/Facilities UpgradeThe USDA Center for Grain and Animal Health Research (formerly Grain Marketing Production and Research Center) is a 56,000 square foot research facility constructed in the early 1970’s. Since that time, the facility has had persistent roof problems, extreme temperature fluctuations, inadequate laboratory exhaust, high energy usage and electrical distribution inconsistencies. Our design team provided a two-part process for the modernization/facilities upgrade. Part one used an investigative report of the facility that identified non-conforming building code and life safety items; mechanical and electrical systems deficiencies; and develop possible corrective actions and associated costs and schedules.
