Shawnee County Work Release
Topeka, Kansas
Minimum-Custody Detention CenterTreanor Architects was selected to provide design services for the renovation of a warehouse adjacent to its current jail for use by Shawnee County, Kansas, as a work release facility. The facility comprises a minimum-custody/work release detention center for up to 240 inmates—48 women and 192 men. The pre-engineered metal building, which formerly housed a printing company, was reinforced and designed in two sections. The first, a barracks-style dormitory for men and women sentenced to work release programs, includes individual lockers to store personal property. The remainder of the building includes space for community corrections offices. |
